If you leap forward to those who are between the ages of 35 to 49, the statistics show 17.6 of every 1000 in that age bracket are victims of a violent crime. In terms of population, that translates to a staggering 1.17 million men and women who will be victims of a violent crime during those years. For those of us over the age of fifty, to the age of sixty-four, 11.4 out of every thousand will be victims of a violent crime.
